Can you run over a power cable in a car?

I need to hoover my car, but you have to park it on the opposite side of the street to my house, and it's a really busy road. Basically, I can't do it without someone running over the cable in their car. Or blocking the road for 20 mins while I do it. Would the power cable survive, or do I need some kind of industrial strength one?
